The pattern below is my own variation of the elegant pinapple bookmark found @ http://www.jpfun.com/patterns/free/bookmarks/f110006elegpineapplebkmk.shtml
That one looks great and got a lot of praise from my friends though it refuses to stay straight.
Now - my variation:
Materials:
I used size 10 thread and a 1.75 mm crochet hook
Size:
6cm (2.5 inches) wide , 19cm ( 7 inches) long without tassel.
Instructions:
ROW 1: Ch9. Join with sl st in first chain to form ring.
Ch3. 8 dc in ring.
Ch3. Turn.
ROW 2: Dc in first dc ( the very first). Ch1. *Dc in next dc. Ch1. Rep from * 7 times. 2dc in top of ch3. Ch3, turn.
ROW 3: Dc in next dc ( Not the first one from now on). Ch3. *Sc in next dc. Ch3. Rep from * 7 times. Dc in next dc and in the top of ch3. Ch3, turn.
ROW 4: Dc in next dc. Ch3. Sk next ch3 sp. *Sc in next ch3 sp. Ch3. Rep from *5 times more. Sk last ch3 sp. Dc in next dc and in the top of ch3. Ch3, turn.
ROW 5: Dc in next dc. Ch3. Sk next ch3 sp. *Sc in next ch3 sp. Ch3. Rep from * 4 times more. Sk last ch3 sp. Dc in next dc and in the top of ch3. Ch3, turn.
ROW 6: Dc in next dc. Ch3. Sk next ch3 sp. *Sc in next ch3 sp. Ch3. Rep from * 3 times more. Sk last ch3 sp. Dc in next dc and in the top of ch3. Ch3, turn.
ROW 7: Dc in next dc. Ch3. Sk next ch3 sp. *Sc in next ch3 sp. Ch3. Rep from * 2 times more. Sk last ch3 sp. Dc in next dc and in the top of ch3. Ch3, turn.
ROW 8: Dc in next dc. Ch3. Sk next ch3 sp. *Sc in next ch3 sp. Ch3. Rep from * 1 more time. Sk last ch3 sp. Dc in next dc and in the top of ch3. Ch3, turn.
ROW 9: Dc in next dc. Ch3. Sk next ch3 sp. *Sc in next ch3 sp. Ch3. Sk last ch3 sp. Dc in next dc and in the top of ch3. Ch1.
ROW 10: Dc in next dc. Ch3. Sk the 2 ch3 sps. Dc in next dc and in top of ch3.
ROW 11: Turn. Sl st till you get to the ch3 sp. Sl lt in sp. Ch3, 8 dc in sp. Ch3, turn.
Repeat row 2 to row 11Repeat row 2 to row 10.
Don't worry if it 'cups' a bit- it will look better when you stitch around it.
Now you will work around the perimeter of the whole bookmark.
Work down the left side treating each ch3 and dc as a sp.
2sc in first sp. *Ch3. 2sc in next sp. Rep from * till you get to the bottom of the bookmark.
Ch3. Sl st in the starting chains. Ch3
Continue up the other side ( 2sc in next sp ch3...)
At the top of the bookmark: Ch3 (you might have already did that), dc, ch3, dc, ch5, dc, ch3, dc, ch3. Sl st into first sc.
Cut out 5 pieces of thread 12 cm / 5 inches long.
Fold threads in half, pull through the sp at the bottom. Use the hook to fasten.
